QRU - An Open School
Coinciding with the ELIA Leadership Symposium, the Concourse Gallery at Emily Carr University of Art & Design will host the exhibition QR_U (an open school) from 1-10 December, providing a live and online forum on learning art and the fuiture of the art school.
QR_U (an open school) is an interactive exhibition project presented by Elisa Yon, Adam Stenhouse, Heidi May, and Lois Klassen. This project exists online at http://qruopenschool.ca/
and in the Concourse Gallery at Emily Carr University of Art & Design from December 1-10, 2011.
QR_U aims to create an occasion and a setting for the broad questions surrounding our relationship with the arts and learning, and the future of the art school. This exhibition forms a 10 day school-within-a-school which builds on the culture of exchange and dialogue at Emily Carr University.
The exhibition functions as a process of collective inquiry, dialogue, and interactions in response to three main concerns:
WHAT is the new school of arts?
WHERE does learning happen?
HOW can we learn to learn?
In the "virtual school" at qruopenschool.ca
, you can respond with texts, images, links to media, and more questions. The dialogue created will later become accessible to the QR_U exhibition visitors with QR codes installed in the gallery space. The exhibition intends to make visible the inside of the school and to distribute that school and its inquiry freely and widely.
